Today, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible women who have made a difference in our organization. From our founder, Anne Bates (of blessed memories), to the countless volunteers and donors who have supported us over the years, we are grateful for your contributions.
Anne Bates was a woman who made a significant impact in her community and beyond. She founded Marycare in honour of her father, G. Wallace Bates, who was a successful businessman and philanthropist. He spent a third of his fortune helping those in need, both locally and abroad. Anne continued her father's legacy by starting her own charity, Marycare. Anne Bates first visited Ejemekwuru (a small community in Nigeria) in 2013 for the first Medical Mission. After four days of touching lives, Anne Bates did not want to leave the people without continuous support. She asked that a health center be built for the community where people can come at any time and receive free health care services.
Over the years, Marycare has enjoyed immense support from women all over the world. We have women on the board of directors, nurses, doctors, volunteers and supporters. Their unwavering commitment and dedication to our mission of improving healthcare for women and children in underserved communities have been instrumental in our success. We embrace equity as an organization and we believe that when women come together, great things can be achieved, and we are grateful for the strong network of women who have helped us grow and make a positive impact in our community.
We are grateful for the incredible women who have supported our organization, and we are committed to continuing our work to help those in need. Thank you for your support, and happy International Women's Day!
